About Us

MLS offers easy access to expertise in the thermodynamics of high temperature processing of ferrous and base metals.  Such expertise is often required for analysis of reactions occurring in pyrometallurgical processes, before suitable solutions to practical problems can be developed and implemented.  

MLS provides access to its wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience through on-site workshops and technical training of plant metallurgists as well as working with them in analysis of technical problems and finding solutions to them.  

MLS also undertakes consulting work for the industry in a range of areas including:
  • Process modelling and optimisation of metallurgical performance, management of impurities, metal recovery, refractory life and fuel consumption.
  • Development and evaluation of energy efficient process flowsheets for the lower-grade ores of the future. 
  • Efficient use of resources and renewable carbonaceous fuels, e.g. towards zero waste and net emissions.
  • Industrial ecology and sustainability assessment.
